Winning the battle in the trenches is vital for a football team to have success. For the Eagles that battle is going to be important as they graduated seven offensive lineman from last season.
The depth of the Pella Christian offensive line has already been tested as injuries have struck the group throughout the team’s preseason work. With an inexperienced group of lineman lining up in front of the 2021 Class 1A District 7 Offensive Player of the year Isaac Kacmarynski, Head Coach Rich Kacmarynski knows how important the offensive line will be for the Eagles this season.
“It’s gonna be a point of emphasis for us, we basically graduated all of our starters from last year this past spring. So we do have some guys who got playing time, Mitchell Van Zee played three games for us last year at the varsity level. Owen Menninga played for us three games last year and Ezra Groenenboom got a little bit of work for us last year. But we have a nice junior class of big bodied guys, so we’re excited.”
The new group of Eagles offensive linemen will start the season off against Des Moines Christian, who tallied just seven total sacks a season ago. You can listen to the Eagles this Friday on the KRLS2 Stream with pregame starting at 6:30 pm before kickoff at 7 pm.
