The Indianola School Board discussed the use of the Indians name and logo at their meeting Monday evening, with the board deciding to continue to gather feedback from the public on the issue. Superintendent Art Sathoff tells KNIA News the board certainly felt it necessary to continue the conversation with the community, but also wanted to keep in mind the election coming up and potentially having new board members make a decision on the topic.
“Ken Bresnan, Carolyn Langenwalter, and Laurie Abernathy are all spots that are on the ballot for election, and at this point I’m not sure if any of them are seeking re-election. So we will have new board members on the board, and this is kind of an important, weighty topic that the current board was conscious of having future board members have a say in.”
