The 11th annual Nana Jana Fun Run is Saturday, September 18th at Dan D. Farms near Knoxville. Owner Dan Denneson says this is an event to raise awareness about ovarian cancer.
“The Nana Jana Fun Run started in 2011, when I lost my wife to ovarian cancer. We had a corn maze at the time, and we thought it’d be a neat way to celebrate her and bring awareness about ovarian cancer. We were told that it’s known as a silent killer, and a lot of times, ladies don’t know they have it until it’s too late.”
Participants will run around the farm through varying terrain. A breakfast will be served afterwards. Registration costs $25 and is available here. A t-shirt will be included if done by September 8th. Proceeds will be donated to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition. The run begins at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 18th at Dan D. Farms.
