Pella opened the new fall season with a 3-0 volleyball win over Ballard Tuesday (25-15, 25-19, 25-20) in a non-conference road matchup.

Anna Vander Waal was perfect from the service line and tallied six aces. In a preseason conversation, Vander Waal highlighted serving as a key area for improvement this fall if the team wants to make a deep run in the postseason.

Uneven serving kept the No. 9 ranked Dutch from doing further damage against the Bombers, with 19 service errors in the contest. Bailey Van Voorst finished with nine kills and Jasmine Namminga racked up eight.

Pella improves to 1-0 overall and are off until a tournament in Bondurant Saturday morning. Hear from Vander Waal and Ella Corbin on this week’s Radio Sports Page, which airs every Wednesday at 6 p.m. and Thursday at 10 a.m. on 92.1 KRLS.
