When a new season begins, it can be hard to not get caught up in the opponents that appear on the schedule. But for Eagles’ first year volleyball head coach Tammi Wight, she is avoiding the temptation to look too far ahead.

Playing in the Little Hawkeye Conference — one of the best in the state, Pella Christian always has a tough schedule, including a traditional showdown with Tulip City rival Pella and upcoming dates with the four ranked league teams. Despite multiple matchups with schools of that caliber, Wight says she isn’t focused on one specific match this season.

“We play in a tough conference, so honestly I don’t really talk about that much with the girls because I just really talk about whoever is on the other side of that net is who we are going to compete with that day. So, I just want to be ready for whoever.”

The first opponent to lineup opposite the Eagles will be No. 11 in 4A Bondurant-Farrar in the Skip Anderson Tournament at Bondurant-Farrar High School this Saturday at 8 am.
