With a deep lineup this fall, the Central women’s tennis team is playing a large number of non-conference teams. Head Coach Ryun Ferrell says the goal is to give the younger players experience while the veterans take on some of the best competition in the region.

“We’ve overscheduled. This weekend, my assistant is taking 12 women to Naperville, IL to play in a tournament at North Central, and I’m going to stay back to take on Monmouth with a bunch of freshmen and sophomores. I’ve got a lot of kids in my lineup that’ll play in the top six for the first time, and they’ll play Monmouth and do the best they can. Honestly, it’s what needs to happen to get them to the level we need to get them to to potentially help us out at some point in the future.”

Action in Naperville begins Saturday at 7:45 a.m., while the home match against Monmouth begins at noon.
