The wait for the start of the 2021 fall sports season at Pella Christian comes to an end today as the Eagles have their first competition at Gilbert.
The Pella Christian Cross Country team will compete against many of the highest caliber teams in Class 2A, 3A and 4A, but Head Coach Mike Buchheit believes his team is capable of being competitive regardless of the competition.
“We enjoy running in those big events against bigger schools. They do some things where they split large schools, small schools. So, I’d like to think this season we’re going to be finding ourselves winning cross country meets that we haven’t won in the past. And I’d like to think we’re going to place a little higher in the conference standings, instead of coming in seventh or eighth out of the eight teams, both on the boys side and on the girls side.”
The Eagles will look to show what they are capable of in their first meet of the season hosted by Gilbert on the Iowa State Cross Country Course at 4:45 pm.
