The Pleasantville School Board is reopening bids for its football stadium project. Superintendent Tony Aylsworth says the previous bids were over the district’s budget.
“There was one bid package that was almost $1.1 million over the projected estimated budget, so we’re going back to the drawing board. We’re going to have that area of the project re-bid with a little bit different sequencing and scope that we hope makes it more advantageous to potential bidders. We’ll bring that back to the September 14th school board meeting with the hopes of moving the project forward and getting this done. We know this is something the community wants to see get done. Our hope is that the material escalation and availability issues that the pandemic has created for us don’t temporarily derail the project.”
The project will include stadium demolition, including removal of the football field and track. A new artificial football field and hard surface track, along with new concession stands and entries are in the plans. Stay tuned to KNIA/KRLS for updates on this project.
