The journey back to the dome for PCM’s football squad begins tonight as they open the season at home against Davis County in the Mustang showdown.
The Mustangs are coming off finishing the 2020 season with a 10-1 record overall, with their only loss coming in the state semifinal against Waukon. The Mustangs’ defense coming into this season is a little bit of a question mark since eight seniors on that side of the ball graduated. One of the players to watch for PCM will be Durant Van Dyke, who finished with 35.5 tackles and six sacks in 2020. Unfortunately for PCM, Aidan Anderson has suffered a setback in his rehab from last year’s broken leg, so he will be out for the season opener. Coach Bonnett tells KRLS Sports that he is expecting Kaden Hale and Carter Burns to get the bulk of carries tonight.
“From the running back spot, Kaden Hale is repping. We have a sophomore kid named Carter Burns that can run the ball. Will Oelmann also, who is a starting linebacker for us.”
PCM is 4-2 all-time against Davis County. The last time these two teams met was back in 2017 with PCM winning convincingly 68-12. PCM last lost to Davis County back in 2013, which was a 26-21 loss. PCM has averaged 40.5 points per game against Davis County, and 51 in their last four matchups between the two teams.
The journey back to the dome begins tonight, with pregame starting at 6:30 PM and kickoff beginning at 7:30. The game will be broadcast on the KRLS3 stream at kniakrls.com with Alex Koch and Jeff Lindsay on the call.
