Pella Christian scored nearly every way possible to open the 2021 season on the road, as they took town Des Moines Christian 56-22 in a non-district contest heard live on the KRLS2 stream Friday night.
With several playmakers returning from a 2020 team that also opened their season in Urbandale one year ago, the Eagles flexed their muscle and showed the variety of ways in which they can knock out foes. Eric Mulder opened with an interception from his safety position to set up a 40 yard Jack Fancher field goal. Mulder would score two long touchdowns from there at the receiver position.
Isaac Kacmarynski replicated an effort of a former All-State Eagle three years later in the opening game, scoring four different ways — with two passing touchdowns, a rushing score, a fumble recovery in the end zone, and a kickoff return to the endzone. Noah Treimer scored four different ways in the 2018 opener vs. Oskaloosa.
Head Coach Rich Kacmarynski says the balance of how his Eagles were able to showcase several of their strengths was a fun way to start 2021 against a solid Lions club.
Drew Geetings tallied a pick-six and a sack on a busy night for the P.C. defense as well. Pella Christian improves to 1-0 and hosts Panorama next week in a rematch of the Round of 32 playoffs from 2020.
