The City of Knoxville will soon receive the mural it won in the recent online contest by the Iowa Economic Development Authority. City Manager Heather Ussery says the project was originally to begin Monday, but has been pushed back to next week due to extended prep work.
“Once they started scraping, they found some tuckpointing issues. We knew this was a possibility coming into it. There are a couple areas on the wall that need to be repaired, so they had to stop that prep work and make those repairs. At the end of this week, they will be starting with the base coat so the artist can get started with the actual mural.”
Once the artist begins the painting, it will take 10-14 days to complete. Knoxville won this mural by getting the most votes in a community pride contest. Learn more about this and other city affairs on today’s Let’s Talk Knoxville.
