Trace Mann of Melcher-Dallas recently completed the “50 Yard Challenge,” a program sponsored by Raising Men Lawn Care Service in Huntsville, AL. This is a program designed to get children inspired to make a difference by volunteering in their communities. Mann, age 11, says with the help of a Facebook page his mother created, he accepted the challenge to perform lawn care services for those unable to.
“You have to be a veteran, a single parent, or disabled, you can’t mow your lawn or it’s really hard to mow your lawn. A lot of people were like ‘Hey, you can do this.’ So within the first week or two, my page was blowing up.”
Participants in the challenge must mow 50 lawns to complete the challenge. Mann mowed lawns for his grandparents and other people throughout the area, and received a certificate to honor the achievement. Learn more about this program on today’s In Depth with Dr. Bob Leonard.
