The Indianola girls cross country team placed second in their season opener at Dallas Center-Grimes Tuesday afternoon, while the boys opened their season with a fourth place finish.
Emily Naughton and Gracie Foster led the girls finishing in 4th and 5th place, while Jordyn Brown also earned a top 10 finish in 8th place. Joey Werling placed 14th, while Remy Sivertsen finished in 22nd.
Curtis Johnson and Logan Hoger paced the boys squad with a 4th and 6th place finish respectively, while Jack Runyan and Hunter Seifrig each had top 30 finishes in 20th and 28th place.
Both teams will next compete Saturday in Urbandale.

The Indianola girls swimming team defeated Perry in their season opener 102-64 on the road. Among the first place finishes included Jorja Culver in the 50 Freestyle, Ava Moorlach in the 100 Backstroke, and the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay team of Julian Bacon, Olivia Bacon, Ali Borgmeyer, and Culver.
