A commanding 2-0 lead melted into a 3-2 loss for the Knoxville Volleyball Squad Tuesday night against Albia ending the Panthers’ 25 match winning streak in the South Central Conference. Knoxville won set one 25-20 after a slow start, and dominated set two 25-8, but Albia would win sets three, four and five by scores of 25-23, 27-25, and 15-9. Panthers players Brittany Bacorn and Melanie Sullivan told KNIA/KRLS Sports they might have let off the gas in the 3rd set to allow Albia back in, but they will use it as a learning experience.
Brittany: “We’re definitely going to this as a learning experience, and we need to cut down on our side errors and we’ll be better for it.”
Melanie: “I think we might have got in our heads that we had it in the bag, and let down on the little things, and we’ll work on those things and get better.”
Bacorn ended the night with 16 kills and 17 assists while Sullivan had 23 digs. Abby Wadle had 11 kills and Emma Dunkin was 17/17 serving with an ace. Knoxville is now 2-2 on the season and starts off 0-1 in the conference with a trip to Atlantic this Saturday. Listen for a full interview with Bacorn and Sullivan on the Radio Sports Page Wednesday at 6:00pm and Thursday at 10:00am on KNIA/KRLS.
