The North Overlook Campground has reopened to the public. According to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Lake Red Rock, the park features a new six-plex family style restroom/shower house. Construction had shut down the campsites since mid-May. The North Overlook Campground will be open until October 4th. For campsite availability and to make reservations, visit www.recreation.gov.
Additionally, recent water testing at Lake Red Rock’s North Overlook Beach shows lowered bacteria levels, and the previous swimming advisory is no longer in effect. The main body of the lake and Whitebreast Beach also had low bacterial counts. Sampling at the beaches is performed weekly by the Corps of Engineers through a contract with Iowa State University.
