The Simpson men’s soccer team earned a blowout victory to begin their season 6-1 over Augustana, while the Storm women’s soccer team fell to Illinois Wesleyan 4-3 and the volleyball squad fell to Grinnell 3-2.

The Storm soccer squad got four goals from Jordy Triana-Vazquez as they took a 4-0 lead into the second half, with additional goals from Enrique Idehen and Andrew Russell. The Storm are now 1-0 on the season, and play Saturday at Hamline.

The Storm women traded goals with Illinois Wesleyan, falling behind 1-0, but scoring two goals in a row from Maddie Hays and Cassie Nash to take the lead, but gave up two goals in a row to fall behind again, then got a goal from Jordyn Foelske to tie it and force overtime. Simpson held the first overtime scoreless, then gave up a double overtime goal to fall to 0-1 on the season. They will next play Saturday vs Benedictine.

The Storm volleyball squad won game one 25-23, but dropped the game two games 15-25 and 23-25, but forced a game five with a 25-19 win in game four, but dropped the final game 11-15. Jessica Jacobs earned 15 kills to lead the Storm. They fall to 0-1, and travel to Pella tomorrow for a tournament hosted by Central.
