Drought conditions remain unchanged locally, although recent rain has been beneficial in slowing down what had been expanding dryness across the state.

According to the latest U.S. Drought Monitor Report, abnormally dry conditions remain in most of Marion and Warren Counties, and moderate drought continues in northern Marion County.

Earlier this week, most of the region received an additional ½” to 1.5” of rainfall. After precipitation tapers off today, mild, dry conditions will be in place for the Labor Day weekend, with highs near 80 and lows in the 50s.
