An additional 120 residents tested positive for COVID-19 in the latest weekly update from the Iowa Department of Public Health. In total, 223 cases are considered active and infectious locally. An 81st death due to COVID-19 since the beginning of the outbreak was also included in the latest report, and it’s the third week in a row a resident has died from the virus. As of Thursday, seven Marion County residents were hospitalized with COVID-19. In total, 14,530 residents are fully vaccinated and an additional 1,099 have taken the first shot in the two-dose Pfizer or Moderna series.
