September is National Library Card Sign-up Month. Knoxville Public Library Director Roslin Thompson tells KNIA/KRLS News that owning a card opens the door to virtually unlimited resources offered by the Knoxville Public Library.
“This is something that was started by the American Library Association. We strongly encourage parents, caregivers, anyone who works with kids to come and get a library card for their child. That library card is so powerful. It gives you access to literally millions of things – books, items, all the resources we have to offer. It is a lot.”
Adults must provide identification, and cards for children ages 5-12 must be signed by a parent or guardian. Library cards are free, and allow users to check out up to 20 items.
