A pair of ranked volleyball teams in Class 4A will square off this evening as #11 Norwalk hits the road to #14 Pella for a Little Hawkeye Conference tilt. The Warriors enter 10-4 overall and 1-0 in conference play, and have won five of six heading into this matchup. Head Coach Jenna Karpuk says while she expects a battle, her team should come out on top if they maintain their confidence.
“Our conference is tough no matter what, there’s no easy opponents. It’s awesome competition no matter what, home or away. We have Pella and Oskaloosa in the next week, so we’ll have to be geared up for those and play our top game. We can get them if we’re confident.”
On the other side, the Dutch seek their first conference win after being dispatched by Indianola last Tuesday. Pella will be well-rested, as that loss was their most recent competition. First serve of the varsity contest is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. inside the Pella High School gymnasium.
Also in action today is the boys golf team. The Warriors head southeast to join a nine-team field in Ottumwa. Other teams at the tournament include conference foe Indianola, Des Moines East, Lincoln, North and Roosevelt, Burlington, Muscatine, and the hosting Bulldogs. First tee times are scheduled for noon at the Ottumwa Golf and Social Club.
