The Pella Christian and PCM cross country teams traveled to Bloomfield Thursday afternoon to compete in the Davis County meet at Lake Fisher.

It was a great night for the Eagles as both cross country squads brought home second place finishes. Individually, Joslyn Terpstra won the girls meet with a time of 21:46.24, and Jaclyn Holmes also posted a podium finish, coming in third with a time of 22:14.82. In the boys meet, Pella Christian had six runners finish in the top 10. Kaden Van Wyngarden led the way for the Eagles with a third place finish followed by fifth place finisher Danny Andringa.

Eagle Head Coach Mike Buchheit was pleased with how his team competed on an unfamiliar course.

“We hadn’t been to that course before, none of us as coaches or runners, so it was a good chance to run a different course and certainly a very hilly and very tough course. And I’m just really proud of how the kids competed tonight and how they competed for position.”

The PCM girls cross country team finished in third place just behind the Eagles. Paige Steenhoek continued her great start to the season, coming in fourth with a time of 22:32.36. Tiffani Koonce also finished top ten, with a ninth place finish posting a time of 23:56.89. The PCM boys cross country team scored a fourth place team finish in their race. A 26th place finish by Kyle Sanders led the Mustangs’ efforts on the evening.
