pleasantville-3

Pleasantville’s volleyball squad split their first triangular of the season at Mount Ayr, losing to the host but then knocking off Clarke.

The first match of the triangular for the Trojans was them losing in straight sets to Mount Ayr by scores of 20-25 and 18-25. The second match was a victory for Pleasantville in straight sets, knocking off Clarke with scores of 25-18 and 25-23. Adi Adreon had a big night at the serving line, registering three aces. Danika Park led the team in kills between the two matches. The split in the triangular puts Pleasantville at 2-3 on the season.

The next time the Trojans take the court will be for their first major tournament of the season Saturday as they take a trip to Twin Cedars.

The Pleasantville Trojans are looking to get back over .500 on the football season against Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont this evening, after they struggled last week in their first road game of the 2021 season, a loss to Interstate 35 39-7.

The Pleasantville offense struggled to move the ball against the Roadrunners as they mustered just 152 yards of total offense in the loss. After stifling the Lynnville-Sully offense in week one, the Trojans couldn’t contain the Roadrunners rushing attack, allowing 430 yards on the ground. After falling behind and struggling with fundamentals, Trojans Head Coach Mack Jorth knows his team needs to focus on the little things to turn things around.

”Credit to I-35, they’re a very good football team and we just didn’t play very well. We battled with them pretty well to start the game in the first quarter, but after that it kind of got away from us. When it got away from us, you just saw a lot of things happen that just go back to the fundamentals of football. We didn’t do a very good job of staying on blocks, getting off blocks, and then tackling. We just have to get better at that.”
