Knoxville’s homecoming is next week, with numerous activities taking place.
The pep rally is Thursday at 6:30 at Ken Locke Stadium, with the announcement of the homecoming court and performances by the band, dance team and cheerleaders. The powderpuff game will follow.
Downtown businesses will display homecoming posters from the last 70 years. The Grand Theater will be open from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. Friday showing films that document the history of Knoxville. Lisa Seddon with the Knoxville Alumni Association encourages alumni to purchase a membership next Friday.
“We’ve moved our homecoming festivities to downtown. We’ll be in the Grand Theater from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. to sign up members, have a silent auction, and raise money for scholarships.”
Friday’s parade begins at 3:00, followed by a block gathering at 4:00 on the square. The class reunion lineup begins at 6:30 at Ken Locke Stadium, with the introduction of classes at 7:00 ahead of the football game against Creston.
On Saturday the 25th, the association’s second annual bags tournament will be held on the square at 2:00. It starts at 2:00 p.m. and is limited to 24 teams.
