The Pella City Council will continue discussion regarding a proposal to update the City’s Design Review District Design Manual. During policy and planning Tuesday, council will review a proposal from SHYFT Consultants, which totals $27,480 and includes the following:
• Four CDC workshops
• Community meeting
• Meetings with the CDC and City Council
• A points-based design criterion

The anticipated timeline would be approximately five months for completion and adoption. A sub-committee was formed in May with members of the Community Development Committee and Council member Hopkins; they were tasked to update the Design Manual to specifically reflect the growth and distinct needs of various parts of Pella while still encouraging homogenous theme in the Central Business District The Design Manual has not been substantially revised since the addition of 360-degree building review more than a decade ago.
