The 11th annual Nana Jana Fun Run was held Saturday at Dan-D Farms south of Knoxville. The run is held annually in honor of owner Dan Denneson’s late wife Jana, who died of ovarian cancer in 2011. He says it was one of the better turnouts the event has had in its history.
“It was a fabulous day, the weather was good, and we had our best crowd in three years. I think everyone had a good time, and one more time, we got the word out about ovarian cancer and how it’s a silent killer. We did have one person there with ovarian cancer, so people know the reality of it. But yeah it was a great day.”
Participants ran around the farm through varying terrain, with several winners being recognized:
1st – Adult Male -Sam Seddon
1st – Adult Female – Mickayla McGill
1st – Youth Male – Tommy Buttell
1st – Youth Female – Camryn Willis
Tealest- Mary Jo Noftsger
Best Dancer – Owen Specht
Muddiest – Kaden McGill
Youngest – Laine Heskin
Proceeds from the run will be donated to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition. Denneson estimates that over $3,500 was raised. The KNIA/KRLS Lil’ Big Red Radio was on site to play music.
