The nursing staff at Knoxville Hospital & Clinics recently was recognized as the #1 hospital among rural hospitals in the MercyOne southern Iowa region for nursing communication, according to a recent scorecard. Registered Nurse Dawn Bender says this means Knoxville Hospital & Clinics nurses are able to most effectively communicate with patients, which is extremely beneficial.
“We can make a good rapport with each other, they can trust us, we trust them. But they need to trust us more because they’re here when they’re vulnerable, when they’re sick. To a lot of people, science is different, they don’t know too much about it. They do need to trust that we know what we’re doing. When they do trust us, they’re going to naturally cooperate better and have a better outcome altogether.”
