Sean Collins and Olivia Maasdam were named the 2021 Knoxville Homecoming King and Queen at the coronation Thursday evening.

Maasdam: “Of course I’m shocked, I didn’t expect it honestly. I’m very happy and grateful for anybody who voted for me. It makes Homecoming pretty special.”

Collins: “It made my heart drop, I wasn’t really expecting it. A lot of people said they were voting for me. It made Homecoming more special.”

Other candidates were Andrew Jackson, Michael Greubel, Joey Hembrook, Emmett Schmidt, Charlee Heffron, Dani Johnston, Taylor Jones, and Johanna Leonard.

On the schedule today, downtown businesses will display homecoming posters from the last 70 years. The association’s annual meeting is at 11:00 a.m. in the Grand Theater, with the opportunity to purchase memberships. The Grand Theater will be open from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. showing films that document the history of Knoxville.

The parade begins at 3:00, followed by a block gathering at 4:00 on the square. The class reunion lineup begins at 6:30 at Ken Locke Stadium, with the introduction of classes at 7:00 ahead of the football game against Creston.
