In the battle of the Panthers at Ken Locke Stadium on Friday night, it was the Creston Panthers that prevailed in a 49-0 win over Knoxville on homecoming night. The red and black Panthers took control early and often scoring twice in the first 6:00 taking advantage of short fields off of Knoxville turnovers to build a 14–0 lead, which would grow to 28-0 by the halftime break. Knoxville was able to cause problems for Creston’s passing game as Kale Kincaid, Tyce Huyck and Chaz Graves were able to either pressure Creston’s quarterbacks or complete the sack. Coach Eric Kellar told KNIA/KRLS Sports that was a bright spot for his team, but still it just was not enough.
Kellar:
“That was a big focus this week, their pass pro was shaky, and we drilled it into them all week to not get too deep, and we overran the play several times. We’re young and they’re going to learn and get better.”
Knoxville was limited offensively all night totaling just 115 yards led by T.J. DeJong’s 41 yards. Knoxville drops to 0-5, 0-1 in class 3A District six on the season and will travel to Saydel next Friday.
