The #9 in Class 4A Norwalk football team overcame over 100 yards of penalties in a 31-8 victory over Boone in Friday’s district opener, as aired on KNIA3. Norwalk struck quick with a 53-yard touchdown pass from Landon Hochstein to Dillon Ranck for the early lead. Two short touchdown passes to Braedon Carlson in the first half extended the lead to 21-0, before Keilor Rodman tacked on a 35-yard field goal as time expired in the first half for a 24-0 halftime lead.
The momentum slowed as the second half began. The Warriors continued to be plagued by penalties as the game went on. But late in the third quarter, Rodman caught a touchdown pass to go on top 31-0. Boone’s only score came late in the fourth quarter. Head Coach Paul Patterson says that while there’s things to clean up, he’s happy to be 1-0 in the district ahead of a marquee matchup next week.
