Marion County Extension & Outreach will host its first ever Farm-to-Table dinner on Saturday, October 9th on the west side of the Marion County Courthouse square. The Farm-to-Table Dinner will highlight local foods, all sourced in Marion County, as well as the local farmers that produced the food. ISU Community and Economic Development Coordinator Dan Nieland says this meal is an opportunity for people to think about where food comes from and enjoy a higher-end meal.
“A lot of us, myself included, don’t spend a lot of time wondering where exactly that pork chop on our plate or that butterscotch squash soup comes from. This is going to be a higher-end meal that you wouldn’t see on your table on a regular basis. There’s a grilled corn salad, apple glazed pork chops, balsamic glazed roast beef, lemon blueberry bars for dessert, that type of thing.”
Tickets cost $40. Live music will be provided by the Jackson Street Edition. Proceeds from the evening’s event will be shared between ISU Extension and the Knoxville Community Christmas Tree Fundraiser. In the event of inclement weather, the meal will be moved to the Knoxville Extension Office.
