Despite spinning their wheels to start the night, the No. 11 Pella volleyball team raced by the DCG Mustangs 3-1 (23-25, 25-14, 25-17, 25-11) Tuesday night in Grimes.

Several serving errors and defensive miscues allowed the Mustangs to build a big enough advantage to hang on to set one, before the Dutch offense cranked up their big swings and controlled the rest of the night.

Meridith Rowe finished with 12 kills and no offensive errors, while Bailey Van Voorst tallied 13 kills and six service aces.

The victory sets up a three-way tie among the leaderboard of the Little Hawkeye Conference with No. 8 Oskaloosa and No. 13 Indianola with two weeks to play. The Dutch are 16-5 overall and 4-1 against the conference, next heading to the Urbandale volleyball invitational Saturday before returning to league action next week.
