The Marion County Sheriff’s Office received a call about an unstable man in a vehicle yesterday. The caller was a family member who stated that they pulled up “OnStar” and noticed the vehicle was not in the location it should have been and were currently tracking it. When the family member called the unstable man he said that there was a shotgun inside the vehicle and he was going to travel to Council Bluffs and kill his wife and another person.

Dispatch gave a description and last known location to local  law enforcement. A short time later, a Pleasantville Police officer saw the vehicle within the city limits and initiated a traffic stop. The vehicle accelerated at a high rate of speed and attempted to elude officers.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office and the Melcher Dallas Police department joined in the chase and were able to deploy stop sticks to stop the vehicle.  The suspect hit the stop sticks and a’ deputy’s patrol vehicle.
