Class 1A’s 6th-ranked Eagles football team will look to get back in the win column tonight by spoiling Pleasantville’s homecoming, following their first loss of the season a week ago.

Pella Christian has a history of success built up against the Trojans winning eight of the ten all-time matchups, including the last six contests from 2016-2020. While the history does side with the Eagles, Head Coach Rich Kacmarynski knows history is in the past and there is a reason they play the games on Friday nights.

“Pleasantville is a better team than their record (indicates). You watch the film, they get off the ball, their physical, they run well. Honestly, they’ve been unable to stop some things and that’s put them on the wrong side of the scoreboard, but they’re not a bad team. They’re a good football team, so i think we’ll definitely have our hands full.”

While the Trojans would like to have more success against the Eagles, Head Coach Mack Jorth is excited to compete against a familiar opponent.

“We look forward to the opportunity to take them on. It’s always an exciting game for us. Pella Christian is that exciting, not rivalry because we haven’t won enough games for it to be a rivalry, but that opponent that gets us excited and fired up to really try and do some things to surprise some people and have a passionate game out there on the field.”

Tonight’s game between the Eagles and Trojans can be heard live on 92.1 KRLS beginning with the Pingle’s Home Store Radio Pregame Show at 6:30 pm. Opening kick presented by Dutch Mill Supply will follow pregame at 7 pm.
