It has been kind of a weird week for the Melcher-Dallas Football Squad. The Saints began the week thinking they would play Woodward Academy, a team the Saints were confident they could handle for their homecoming matchup tonight. On Monday, the Knights informed Melcher-Dallas that, due to COVID-19 issues on the team, they would not be playing the game. Rather than take a forfeit win and cancel homecoming, the Saints found a new opponent ,albeit, a much tougher one, Winfield-Mount Union. Coach Pat Ferguson tells KNIA/KRLS Sports, the Wolves, who reside in district six, were supposed to have a bye this week. He adds they will provide a much tougher challenge on both sides of the ball than Woodward Academy would have.

Ferguson: “They’ve got a pretty good quarterback, dual threat passer and runner, had about 1,000 yards rushing, and around 700 yards rushing, it looks like he has a couple of big recievers to throw to and they have some big linemen.”

The Saints have some momentum after routing their rival Twin Cedars last week 58-0. Kick off is scheduled for 7:00 at Melcher-Dallas Field.
