It’s senior night at PCM High School, and the Mustangs will look to make it a memorable night as they square off with No. 3 in Class 2A West Marshall in a rematch of last year’s substate final game.
PCM stands at 2-3 on the season and 1-1 in district play. The Mustangs broke their three-game losing streak last week with a resounding 50-6 win over Albia. Aiden Anderson was the king on and off the field as the Homecoming King ran 15 times for 225 yards and four touchdowns, all coming in the first half. The Mustangs put up 367 yards and seven scores on the ground in the win. Greg Bonnett tells KRLS Sports that he is looking to be more physical to combat West Marshall’s running attack.
“I think their team revolves around their quarterback and running back. They’re two very good returning players who look like they are getting nothing but better as the year goes on. I think it is all centered around those two. However, if you watch their offensive line and defensive line, you are going to see some people up front that are very disciplined and very sound. They know how to stay on blocks, so we are going to have to match their intensity and their physicality.”
West Marshall leads the all-time series with PCM, seven games to six, but PCM has won four of the last five match-ups with the Trojans. PCM beat West Marshall in the substate final November 6, 2020 with a 21-20 victory. West Marshall has won the last regular-season matchup between the two teams, which was a 14-7 win on September 6, 2019.
Pre-game will begin at 6:30 PM and Kickoff is at 7:30 PM. The game will be broadcast on the KRLS3 stream at kniakrls.com with Alex Koch and Jeff Lindsay on the call.
