PCM and Pleasantville competed in the First Annual Pleasantville Volleyball Tournament and Pleasantville finished 4-1 while PCM finished 2-3.
The first volleyball tournament at Pleasantville was successful for the home team as the Trojans came away with victories over PCM, Saydel, Martensdale-St. Mary’s, and Colfax-Mingo. Pleasantville’s lone loss in the tournament was against Southeast Warren, who didn’t lose a match all tournament. Pleasantville’s 4-1 record was good enough for second place in the tournament, putting their record at 13-10 overall this season.
The Mustangs came away with victories over Martensdale-St. Mary’s and Saydel. PCM beat Martensdale two sets to none with both sets ending in 22-20 victories. Reese Palm led the team in kills with five. Three players tied for the lead in digs with four, who were Skylar Burns, Riley Johannes and Sidney Shaver. PCM also beat Saydel two sets to one, including outscoring the Eagles in the final set 15-1. Shaver led the team with eight assists. Burns and RaeAnn Duinink both tied for the team lead in digs with five. PCM lost to Colfax-Mingo, Southeast Warren and Pleasantville. PCM now stands at 11-20 on the season.
Pleasantville will have a quick turnaround as they have a triangular Monday on the road with Interstate-35 and Chariton. The triangular begins at 6:30 PM. PCM will be back in action Tuesday as they play their final home match of the season against Heart of Iowa Conference foe West Marshall. The match will begin at 7:00 PM.
