Holding back top runners to give valuable varsity experience to their depth ahead of the looming postseason, the Pella Cross Country teams still found success at Hillcrest Academy Monday evening in their regular season finale.

The No. 6 in 3A Pella boys won their race, while the No. 11 Dutch girls placed 2nd with individually ranked runners Chase Lauman (14th in 3A boys), Josiah Wittenberg (26th), and Raegan Snieder (18th in 3A girls), as well as Akira Lopez and Autumn Blink all not suiting up in the main events.

Jacie Trine led the Pella girls with a 4th place finish and a time of 21:55.57, followed by Sophia Boonstra’s 10th place race at 22:23.04. The Dutch boys had all seven of their runners place between 8th and 19th individually, led by a trio including Cooper Vande Voort (18:21.29), Kaiden Browne (18:21.97), and Jake Huston (18:31.99).

Pella is next in action when they host the rest of the Little Hawkeye Conference cross country teams this Monday for the annual conference meet to begin the 2021 postseason.
