The Simpson College women’s tennis team split a pair of American Rivers Conference matches in Dubuque Saturday, falling 6-3 to Loras, then dominated the Spartans of Dubuque 9-0. Seniors Anna Wanek and Emily King and freshman Bella Tranquilino won both of their singles bouts. The Storm host Wartburg on Friday for a 4 p.m. match and close the regular season slate with a 9:30 a.m. battle against Luther inside the Buxton Tennis Complex on Saturday.
The Storm soccer team fell to #14/17 Loras 3-0 on Saturday. Loras held a 13-8 shot advantage during the contest and connected on the game-winner in the 17th minute, and Sophomore Brenny Frederick tallied three saves in goal for the Storm.
The Storm men’s soccer team picked up a huge win on a late game winner in their contest against Loras Saturday, winning 2-1. The Storm were down 1-0 to the Duhawks, before an Enrique Idehen goal in the 85th minute, then with just seconds to go in the contest, sophomore Ronaldo Ordaz Zambrano connected on a goal to give the Storm a 2-1 victory. The Storm return home for the first time in three matches to take on Central at 7:30pm tomorrow.
