The Pella Christian volleyball team was swept 16-25, 16-25, and 14-25 on Tuesday night in a Little Hawkeye Conference showdown against the #7 ranked team in Class 4A Oskaloosa.

Sarah Gritters and Chloe Huisman led the offensive attack for Pella Christian as Gritters had eight kills and Huisman tallied 15 assists. Natalie Harrill led the team in digs with 10 and three Eagles tallied two blocks. Despite the loss, Head Coach Tammi Wight thinks her team is starting to turn the corner at the right time.

“I think we’ve really just come into our own a little bit. We’re passing the ball pretty well and playing a little bit better defense and that’s key for us. Sarah (Gritters) has been coming on strong, and it’s also helped getting Natalie (Harrill) back from her injury. Our middles are getting more involved and so that always helps our outsides too. I think we are just starting to eliminate some errors and move those into the good side.”

Pella Christian fell to 2-4 in conference play and 12-15 on the season with the loss. The Eagles are off until Monday when they host their Senior Night against their cross town rival and Class 4A’s #10 ranked team Pella at 7:15 pm.
