A Community Common Reading Experience returns to Pella this fall with a focus on head injuries in sports. The Pella Wellness Consortium is hosting events through October 14th, raising awareness about concussions.
A community program with Reid Forgrave and Brenda Easter will be held on Thursday, October 7th at the Pella High School Library at 7 p.m. about the book “Love, Zac,” chronicling the life of an Indianola player who eventually took his own life due to several head injuries he suffered. Brenda hopes his story will help continue to spread awareness about the importance of recovery from concussions and the dangers of playing contact sports after suffering head injuries.
One week later, a panel discussion about concussions will be held on Thursday, October 14th at 7 p.m. in the Pella High School Auditorium with local health professionals and sports coaches.
