The Indianola City Council approved a grant for the Square Reconstruction Project at their meeting Monday, $1.7 million through the State of Iowa Sponsored Project Program. City Manager Ryan Waller tells KNIA News the grant is being used to pay for the brick pavers on the streetscape.
“The brick pavers are more than something that is beautiful, it does serve a purpose for stormwater management. So it’s really nice to have something that not only looks nice but does have a dual-purpose function.”
Waller also said the approval was procedural, and the council will hold a public hearing on the grant at a later meeting.
