The Knoxville Noon Kiwanis is sponsoring a children’s performance of “The Emperor’s New Clothes” adapted by the Missoula Children’s Theatre. Kiwanis member Dave Garcia says this is a great way for children to get into acting with a minimal time commitment.
“It’s a traveling group of directors that come to different communities. They put on a week-long acting camp. During the week, they work on the play and at the end, they put on a performance. It starts on Monday with auditions, and through the week, kids have rehearsals, then Saturday, they put on two hour-long performances. It’s really a neat program that we at the Kiwanis are really excited to bring to Knoxville.”
The play is for children in grades K-12, and every child who auditions will be placed in a role. Auditions will be Monday, October 18th at Celebrate Church in Knoxville. Rehearsals will be each day that week from 3:45 to 8:15 p.m. also at the church. The performances will be Saturday, October 23rd at noon and 3:00 p.m. More information can be found here, as well as today’s Let’s Talk Knoxville.
