Despite the recent spread of drought conditions locally, two rounds of needed rainfall impacted the region this week. Several rain gauges in Marion and Warren Counties received between 1 ½ to 2 ½ inches of precipitation from Sunday night through Wednesday morning. Local totals of note (two-day) included:
Lake Red Rock – 2.07”
Knoxville – 2.05”
Pella – 1.73”
Indianola – 2.17”
While the burst of rain early this week will help, clear skies dominate the long term forecast, according to the National Weather Service, with no significant precipitation expected through the end of next week.
