The lack of rain this summer brought on drought conditions for much of south central Iowa, but also allowed many construction projects to have a more concrete timeline as they were not delayed by weather. Indianola Public Works Director Akhilesh “AP” Pal tells KNIA News the warm weather allowed for many Indianola projects to get done on schedule.
“It’s amazing how what’s not good for the farmers has helped us. The lack of rainy days has helped us in terms of staying up to date on things, but the lack of rainy days also doesn’t help in a way in terms of some of the compaction testing requirements. Certainly in terms of working days this summer we’ve been able to make sure projects are getting done in a timely way.”
