The 2021 Knoxville Cancer Relay has finished, ending Friday evening with a group of runners entering Ken Locke Stadium prior to the varsity football game. This event raised money for Knoxville Panthers Coaches vs. Cancer, featuring groups of runners making laps through Knoxville for 24 hours. Will Buttell of Knoxville was a participant, and says he runs because the money raised from events like these saved his daughter’s life and could save more.
“The main reason I do it is because of my daughter. She was diagnosed with cancer when she was two years old. Somebody donated money for research that came up with her cure. Maybe the money I help raise will help come up with a cure for somebody else’s cancer. If you meet her now, you’d never know she had cancer. She’s running around like a normal 15-year-old.”
The funds raised from this event will be presented to Knoxville Panthers Coaches vs. Cancer in January.
