pleasantville-3

In what seemed like a fairytale ending, Pleasantville closed the regular season and their old stadium with a thrilling 29-28 victory over the Cardinal Comets.

With the victory, the Trojans catapulted into the playoffs with a 4-4 record overall and a 2-3 record in Class 1A District play. Pleasantville beat out Central Decatur based on point differential to get in. Coach Mack Jorth tells KNIA Sports that he was incredibly proud of his team’s performance.

“I think the number one thing our team has done has really just stuck together. We had our fair shares of lumps, bruises, and scars this year. We’ve taken some shots to the chin and these guys have just stuck with it. They never let it get them down, never quit, never gave up on each other. They just really worked hard. We really had our best two weeks of practice the last two weeks which is a testament to their character and their resiliency and the quality of the guys on our team. So, I’m really proud of our guys for doing that and they just deserve something like this.”

Pleasantville will wait to see who they play in the first round of the playoffs as the pairings for the postseason will be released today. Stay tuned to KNIA/KRLS for the latest on the high school football playoffs.
