Beginning October 24th, those making local calls will need to dial the area code in addition to the seven digit telephone number to make all calls, including local calls. IMU released information that this applies to all calls even within the same area code, and only dialing the seven digits will result in the call not completed. Residents and businesses with automatic dialing equipment, such as life safety systems or medical monitoring devices, fax machines, or fire or burglar alarm and security systems or gates will need to be reprogrammed to complete the ten digit numbers.
