The Simpson College fall sports teams were in action over the weekend. The Storm volleyball squad went out of conference play, sweeping both Westminster of Missouri and Albion 3-0. The Storm are now 7-9 overall, and are 4-1 in conference play.

The men’s soccer squad tied Luther after neither team could gain an advantage despite two overtime periods at 1-1. The Storm got a goal from Jordy Triana-Vazquez, but couldn’t muster up enough offense to take the victory. Simpson is now 4-6-2 (2-2-1 A-R-C), and next play BV tomorrow.

The Storm women picked up a 2-0 victory over Luther, earning their second straight ARC shutout win. Simpson got goals from Megan Roberts and Alexis Ponce, while Benny Frederick earned her seventh shutout in goal.

The tandem of Bella Tranquilino and Megan Grubb finished runner-up in Flight B doubles to highlight the Simpson College women’s tennis team’s performance at the American Rivers Conference Individual Tournament over the weekend. Anna Wanek fell in the quarterfinals in the first flight singles, while the duo of Wanek and Emily King dropped the third place match in first flight doubles. Tranquilino and Grubb made a run to the flight B doubles winning 8-5, 8-4, 8-4 before dropping their contest to a duo from Loras.
