The Indianola City Council approved a new contract with Kiya Koda Humane Society at their meeting Monday, keeping the organization as animal control for the city. City Manager Ryan Waller tells KNIA News the city and Kiya Koda have always had a strong working relationship, and the new contract is for a vital service to the city and community.
“They operate as our animal control service, so the city has a monthly fee that pays them for that service. A couple of years ago we updated the agreement which had been outdated since the early 90’s, so the contract that is expiring now is the result of those updated negotiations. So we updated the language and built in regular increases for them which is something that they weren’t having previously.”
