The Pella Christian Volleyball Team heads north tonight for the Quarterfinals of the Class 2A Regional Tournament against arguably the best team in the state #1 ranked Dike-New Hartford.
The Eagles come into the match having won their last nine sets and six of the last seven matches. The Wolverines have put together an impressive resume this season, posting a 48-1 record while only dropping six sets the entire season. The lone loss for Dike-New Hartford came to the #1 ranked team in Class 5A Iowa City Liberty, which evened the season series between the two teams. The Eagles know they face a tough test against one of the front runners for the State Title, but Junior Cara Veenstra says the team needs to remain focused on playing their game.
“I think the main thing is just sticking together as a team, working hard, and competing. Just doing our best, not worrying about the score, and not getting down if we’re losing. We just need to focus on our team and playing together and having a good time because when we’re having fun and when we have a lot of energy and when we’re playing like a family is when we play our best volleyball.”
The Eagles’ Regional Quarterfinal match tonight at Dike-New Hartford High School will begin at 7 pm.
